Orthosis Program

Sebastian’s Love is honored to add a new purpose to our mission. We are purchasing braces and prosthesis for dogs being treated at CSU through Orthopedic Medicine and Mobility (OMM). This study allows OMM to track the healing times, and mobility for dogs that severely injure a ligament or tendon.

I am experiencing this journey with the lovely Oliver, my 6 year old Standard Poodle.  He tore his Achilles last January most likely Cross Country Skiing.  Oliver’s brace has allowed him to heal and exercise all at once.  This is one of the most important progressions we have in the world of orthopedics for our animals.  Also, research is being done into prosthetics for dogs.  While our furry friends can exist on 3 legs, 4 are definitely better, especially if they are big. So Sebastian’s Love is also assisting with the purchase of these prosthetics to see if these can be integrated in the world of orthopedics, oncology or any other service that may need one.  I am so excited to be able to offer this to those families that need our help.  These pieces of equipment run between $1,200 - $3,500 so please keep us on your Christmas list.

Thank you for all you guys already do, I appreciate you more than you know.

Oliver

Alice

When we met Alice, she was “clunking” around the barn, wagging her tail and greeting everyone that arrived. Then someone threw a ball and she turned into a golden streak as she ran after her target with all the joy and exuberance she could muster. We were absolutely stunned! She had a prototype prosthetic. Her strength and determination inspired us to begin working, through Sebastian’s Love and CSU with prosthetics and braces to help dogs like Alice live a full life chasing balls, frisbees, or simply walking with their families. We strive to make the prosthetics better, more comfortable and functional.

Nala

Nala is 7 year old sweetie with caramel eyes who has a chronic injury to a ligament in her left knee. She is being treated with medications to control pain and inflammation, physical therapy for pain and to strengthen her muscles , and an orthosis to support and stabilize her knee.

Rory

Rory Sergesketter is a 10 year old Border Collie. Rory has an injury that prevented him from walking normally and caused him to develop a non-healing sore on his leg. The orthosis has a special "window" that allows room for his sore to continue to heal. And now that he is in an orthosis, Rory's leg is no longer in the abnormal position that caused the sore to develop. Rory has been in his device for about 6 months, and the owner reports that he is an energetic boy who gets around great with his orthosis.

Riley

Riley was diagnosed with OSA in 2017 and received a partial limb amputation with prosthetic. Riley recently came in for his check up and still doing well and using his prosthesis every day!

Mia

MIA WAS HIT BY A CAR AND LOST HER LEG. TODAY SHE IS HAPPY, HEALTHY AND ABLE TO RUN AND CATCH FRISBEES THANKS TO HER PROSTHETIC LEG PROVIDED BY SEBASTIANS LOVE.

Birdie

Birdie WAS ONLY A YEAR OLD WHEN WE MET HER. She has a malformation called Ectrodactyly THAT CAUSED HER LEG TO NEED AMPUTATION.Sebastian's Love provided her with a Prosthetic leG AND SHE HAS ADJUSTED TO HER NEW LIFE BEAUTIFULLY.
